PEOPLE Hairdressing Surry Hills have just been announced finalists in the Hair Expo Australia Awards 2010 for BEST NEW SALON DESIGN.  We are extremely proud of the salon environment we have created and this is a testament to it’s eco friendly design and salons of the future.

The winners will be announced at the Australian Hair Expo awards gala on the 14th June 2010.

PEOPLE Surry Hills has always been a little different; you may say more quirky and artistic.

Now we are pleased to expose the hair parlours alter-ego and its first official foray into the art world with the launch of 1OF1.

1OF1 is the brain child of PEOPLE founder Hamish Glianos, who says: “Surry Hills is a known creative nucleus and this is why PEOPLE want to be here. The line between art as it is known and hair styling – an art-form in its own right – is too prominent and we’d like to break this down.” The salon will also run as part hair salon during business hours and part gallery in the evenings.

This exhibiting space will allow local and international artists, musicians and designers to exhibit their works to a varied and potentially new audience and at no cost. A huge feature wall makes for the ultimate blank canvas and we will actively, and regularly, promote new exhibits and concepts through public openings. “PEOPLE want to create a creative forum that everyone can be part of.” says Hamish.

1OF1 will celebrate its inception in March at the official opening night and salon launch.

New exhibitions will be showcased every 4 months and are open to the general public to enjoy.  Works can be viewed and purchased via our blog 1OF1PEOPLE where we also pay homage to locals we love!
